Our cousins in Las Vegas, Nevada have lost two of their Doxies. The dogs went missing sometime yesterday (January 17, 2010). We fear they may have been stolen or could be used as bait dogs. Our cousin returned home to find her 6' gate open and their family's three Dachshunds missing. This gate is not only too tall and large to be opened by the Dachshunds, but it has also been blocked off for additional security. It all seems very suspicious and dognapping is on rise nationwide. One of their Dachshunds, Moses (out of our girl, Mo'Reen) was found, thank goodness. However, Tulip (her mother is Daisy; Tulip can be found on our Ladies page) and her daughter, Twilight, are still missing. A reward is being offered but we are hoping people will help based on good will, not just monetary impetus. The phone numbers to call are (702) 460-8247 and (702) 460-8347. Here are Twilight and Tulip's descriptions:
Tulip - Red wire hair Miniature Dachshund. As you can see from her picture, she is not a dark red but a honey-cedar red. She has very kind brown eyes. She is not currently wearing her collar with ID tags on it. She is reserved around strangers, and is likely very frightened. Tulip will be 4 years old in August. Additionally, Tulip is not the type to leave home. If for some very odd reason she did, she is the type who can find her way home (she has been on many hiking trips, and is a very intelligent girl). So, it seems very possible that they have been taken.
Twilight (aka, "Twiddle") - Solid black wire hair Miniature Dachshund. She has a very stalky build. Her coat is thick and wiry. She has a full beard and nice whiskery eyebrows. Twilight is wearing her collar and ID tag. She has a purple collar with a pink tag and the tag has a skull on it (as well as her doggy info). Twilight has dark brown, expressive eyes. Her coat is quite woolly this time of year. Twilight will be 2 years old in October.
Location: If you are familiar with the Las Vegas area, this information will be most helpful to you. Kit Fox St. is their last known location. The area is bounded by Desert Inn, Hollywood, Flamingo, and Nellis. Moses was found a few miles away at Vegas Valley and Tree Line--quite a long way from home! UPDATE: A dog matching Tulip's description (we are certain it is her) was found at Sahara and Hollywood, not far from where Moses was found. A couple spotted Tulip and called our cousin with regard to the sighting. Further searching revealed that a woman (perhaps teen age) brought the dog into a rec center and asked if the dog belonged to anyone. No one knew the dog, so the girl said she was taking her home. This is likely our girl! So someone in the area has her! Please, if you know anyone in the area, pass this around!
We have made a coordinated effort into findings these girls. We have called the veterinarian offices within a 15 mile radius of the home (about 70 so far). We will also be calling local groomers in order to get the word out. We have a listing posted on Craigslist, as well as a few other sites (fidofinder.com, petfinder.com, and petharbor.com). We have also, of course, contacted and visted animal control and the pounds/shelter. Fliers have been posted throughout the neighborhood, as well.
These pets are FAMILY MEMBERS, so please, please, please help us if you know anything. If you are in the Vegas area, or perhaps know someone who is, please pass this info along. In the event that the dogs have been stolen, we are hoping they will surface, but they would be in the hands of thieves, so we are trying to make as many people as possible aware of the situation. These dogs are not particularly common, especially to that area, so they will stand out if seen. If these dogs have been stolen, a serious grievance has been committed, one that regardless of the outcome means we need to start spreading the awareness. We are worried sick, and fear the worst, but we are not giving up hope. Please join us!
Thank you so much for reading this and for any help you may be able to provide.
Sincerely,
The Aston Acres Family
